Puzzler: and One
Hour App
(*) A Grouped and Sorted List with subtotals: How can you maintain the grouping of the list and the subtotal calculation at the same time? The problem (see Example). You have a list of projects at different stages of negotiation. Some are contracted (firm), some are High Probability, some are merely leads at low probability. You want a list that groups by probability category and subtotals values (cost, revenue, assets, reserves) by category. The trouble: when a project changes categories, you want to reorder the list. Typical formulas, however, do not sort. So how do you "sort" a list with totals by category and preserve the formulas for totals? (*) This time we are combining the Puzzler and One Hour App, because it is a significant project that can be done many ways. This presentation is a live version of a white-board puzzler Steve Rasey discussed in April. |
